6/20/2020 – Do you need a green heat pad for edge to edge sublimation or can you just sandwich between butcher paper? Also, what are . . .
Response From Enmart: You can get very close to the edge without doing anything special, but there is a very small rounded edge that may not sublimate all the way. If you want to sublimate that rounded part, you will need something that can compress around that curve, so butcher paper won't work for that.
You could use a green heat pad, but something to consider here is that you can't use maximum pressure - the sandstone could crack. Personally, I prefer using a Nomex pad on the bottom, then my paper on top of that with the ink side up, and then the coaster face down on the image, with a sacrificial sheet of paper such as butcher paper, or a teflon sheet, over the top. Basically, you're sublimating upside-down and heating from the back. It takes longer in the press, but it's easier to line up the coaster on the image, you don't have to use heat tape, and you get all the way around that small curve without having to use a lot of pressure. And this technique works great for ceramic tiles as well.
For top sublimation, use 385F and press with light to medium pressure for about 2 minutes.
For upside-down sublimation, heating from the back side of the coaster as detailed above, use double the time.
6/19/2020 – Does anyone know if these coasters accept Cricut's Infusible Ink? Thanks
Response From Enmart: It is our understanding that Cricut's Infusible Ink is in fact sublimation ink, so "yes". You can use anything made out of polyester, or sublimation blank, that will withstand the heat press. These sandstone coasters have an absorbent sublimation coating which makes them great for absorbing condensation from drinks. Keep in mind that because of that ability, they do have a matte, non-shiny finish.
2/28/2020 – Can one use Illustrator files to print shirts. Does one need AccuRIP software?
Response From Enmart: Yes, you can use Illustrator, Corel Draw, or even the Sawgrass Creative Studio program which is online and accessible for free with purchase. Any program can be used as long as you can turn off color management, since that is handled by the Virtuoso Print Manager, which is included as well. No RIP is necessary at all, and printing is almost as simple as just printing a page to a regular printer.
4/27/2017 – Are these coasters actual sandstone or ceramic?
Response From Enmart: According to the manufacturer, these coasters are actual sand stone. They are definitely not ceramic, as there is some porosity that will absorb condensation from a cold drink, and the finish is a nice matte finish. Whether these are man-made or natural carved sandstone however is unknown.
